Vision and Experience
Vision Statement
I am Jamel Anderson-Ruff, Principal Resident at Burton Magnet Elementary for the 2017-2018 school year. My mission and purpose is to help others to gain access to the opportunities they deserve. As an educator, I believe that access comes through building community, hard work that reflects competence, careful preparation, and a heart for others that will in turn facilitate one’s ability to meet the educational needs of students. Engaging teachers, parents, and community is key to establishing and holding students to high expectations. Lifelong learning is imperative to building capacity in others and ensuring students have access to a quality education. |
My experiences in education range from classroom teacher of all four content areas, post secondary experience, and elementary experience in teaching and leadership. |
Guidance for Evaluators: This page contains artifacts and examples of work designed to demonstrate competency in the NC Standards for School Executives. Some of the work was done through class experiences, special trainings, independently, and some with guidance from my mentor principal. Thank you for taking the time to peruse these artifacts. The process of creating this website provided me with a valuable opportunity to reflect upon my current practice as well as to shape my vision of what it takes to be highly effective school administrator. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to go through this process through the DPLA program.
